Caught on tape? Yup, Lee's burned the show onto CD for us. It should be in the archive but I was tricked into lending it to Ovakim so now it's probably lost for good.

Notes: Ahh summer shows. You'd think that they'd be more crowded than usual but we've learned over he years that that just ain't the case. Too many people out of town, I guess. We weren't thrilled about the turnout on this one, but whaddaya gonna do? As expected, the 'Gote shrugged off the lacklustre attendance and delivered a solid performance with a few unique twists. A smooth set overall, nice consistent work behind the sound board from our house favourite Marlon.
With Cousin A out of the picture for the summer I found myself behind the light board flipping switches, and I gotta give credit where credit is due. That shit is HARD. Since my attention was glued to making sure spotlights were aimed where they were suposed to be aimed and colour spreads were spreading in the appropriate colours, I actually didn't "hear" much of the show. The night flew by for me in what felt like twenty minutes.
Stuff that jumped out for me:
Chis Hess from Rap'd In Soul onstage with his saxophone during The Flower Song. This is a touch that should have been added a long time ago. What a perfect complement to that dirty Flower groove. Chris is a talented dude, and hearing him laying down licks for Ovakim to copycat on guitar was cool cool cool.
The Living On A Prayer plug. This was the funniest Zygote tease I can remember. (The Boy Bands Spectacular is a close second.) In addition to actually playing the song well, the boys were in full theatrical Rock On mode. Fists pumping, drumsticks twirling, wailing vocals and all. Hilarious.
All in all a good show, but missing the energy of a packed house that the band really feeds off of. One more show under the belt, I guess. Now we buckle down to a few out-of-town deelies and prepare for our autumn onslaught.....
